Slack

Choose how to use Bigmind in Slack: sync customer channels, chat privately with the agent, or collaborate in internal channel threads. Set up each option separately.

Use Bigmind in Slack to keep customer conversations connected to your CRM, work privately with an agent, or collaborate with your team in a channel. Connect your Slack workspace once, then enable the options that fit your workflow.

#Choose how you want to use Bigmind

Channel sync: keep customer conversations in context

Link customer Slack channels to CRM accounts and deals. Bigmind syncs conversations from those channels so your team can keep up with customer activity alongside emails, meetings, and other account context.

Choose this for customer communication, account management, and keeping a shared record of conversations. You do not need to tag Bigmind for messages in a linked channel to sync.

Bigmind Agent in DMs: get help privately

Message Bigmind directly in Slack to ask questions, prepare for meetings, review your pipeline, or take actions. The agent uses your Bigmind permissions and connected tools. Each thread keeps its own conversation history.

Choose this for individual work and questions you want to discuss privately with Bigmind.

Bigmind Agent across channels: work together in a thread

Tag @Bigmind in an internal channel to ask a question about the conversation or get help with a task. Bigmind can read recent channel context and look up earlier messages when needed. It replies in a thread, where other eligible team members can join the conversation.

Choose this for team discussions and collaborative work. Replies are visible to everyone in the channel, and requests run with the requesting member’s Bigmind permissions.

Channel agents are available only in internal channels without external members or guests. Slack Connect channels shared with other organizations are not supported for agent conversations. Use Channel sync for customer channels instead.

#Connect your Slack workspace

  1. As a Bigmind workspace owner, open the Slack integration page in Bigmind.
  2. Select Connect Slack and choose the Slack workspace you want to connect.
  3. Approve the connection in Slack. Your Slack workspace may require an administrator to approve the app.
  4. Return to Bigmind and enable the features you need using the sections below.

Already connected? Keep the existing connection and authorize any additional features from its settings page. You do not need to disconnect Slack to add a feature.

The three options have separate setup steps. Channel sync is not required for either agent experience, and enabling the DM agent does not enable agents in channels.

#Enable Channel sync

  1. On the Slack integration page, find Channel sync and select Enable channel sync.
  2. Approve the additional Slack access, then return to Bigmind. The section will show Enabled.
  3. In Slack, add the Bigmind app to a customer channel you want to sync.
  4. When Bigmind asks how it should work in the channel, choose Customer channel.
  5. Search for the relevant CRM account, optionally choose a deal, and save the association.

You can also select Manage channels in Bigmind to view and manage channel associations. The account or deal must already exist in Bigmind.

Messages sync only from channels that Bigmind can access and that are linked to an account. For private channels, explicitly add the app before setting up the association. Choosing a customer channel sets up syncing; it does not enable agent replies to mentions.

#Enable Bigmind Agent in DMs

  1. On the Slack integration page, find Bigmind Agent in DMs.
  2. If the section shows Authorization required, select Authorize DM agent and approve access in Slack.
  3. If the section shows Not enabled, select Enable DM agent. Confirm the status is Enabled.
  4. Open a direct message with the Bigmind app in Slack and send a question or request.

Each person must be an active member of your Bigmind organization and use the same email address in Slack and Bigmind so their accounts can be matched.

For example, ask Bigmind to help prepare for your next meeting or review your open deals. If an action needs your approval, follow the link to review it in Bigmind. The conversation continues in Slack after you submit.

To turn off this experience, select Disable DM agent. Channel sync and channel-agent setup are managed separately.

#Enable Bigmind Agent across channels

  1. On the Slack integration page, find Bigmind Agent across channels.
  2. If authorization is required, select Authorize channel agent and approve access in Slack. The section will show Ready to set up.
  3. Add Bigmind to the internal Slack channel where you want to use it.
  4. When Bigmind asks how it should work in the channel, choose Internal channel. If the app is already present, tag @Bigmind to bring up setup for an unconfigured channel.
  5. Tag @Bigmind with your request, either in the channel or inside an existing thread. Continue the conversation in its reply thread.

If a mention prompted setup, Bigmind picks up the latest retained request after you choose Internal channel, including a request inside an existing thread.

Configure each channel separately. Ready to set up means Slack access has been authorized; it does not mean every channel has an active agent.

Every human member of the channel must be an active member of the same Bigmind organization, with matching Slack and Bigmind email addresses. Channels containing external members or guests cannot enable mentions. Bigmind checks channel access when processing requests.

#Troubleshooting

  • A feature needs authorization: Use its authorization button on the Bigmind Slack integration page. If Slack was reinstalled and replies stopped working, reauthorize from Bigmind so its connection is updated.
  • Customer messages are not syncing: Check that Channel sync is enabled, the app is in the channel, and the channel is linked to an account.
  • DMs are not working: Check that the DM agent is enabled and the person’s Slack and Bigmind email addresses match. If Slack says messaging is turned off, reload Slack or try Slack in a browser.
  • Channel mentions are not working: Check that you chose Internal channel, the app is present, and all channel members meet the requirements above. Continue an existing agent conversation in its thread.

#Permissions reference for IT teams

See Slack permissions reference for the exact OAuth scopes, how each feature uses them, and the controls that limit channel and agent access.

#Slack notifications

Bigmind can also send meeting updates, digests, and other notifications to matched Slack users. Configure which updates you receive in Notification Settings. Notification delivery is separate from enabling the agent.
