Deal update automations

Deal update automations run when a deal changes in your CRM. They help teams re-check deal quality, risk, and next steps when important deal fields or stages change.

Purpose

Use deal update automations to review a deal after CRM updates, score qualification, prepare internal deal reviews, identify risks, or recommend changes to the sales plan.

When it runs

The automation uses the On deal update trigger. Templates can also be limited to a specific stage transition when the automation should only run for one part of the pipeline.

Common templates

  • Deal update reviewer: Re-evaluates a deal after a CRM update and proposes adjustments.
  • New deal triage: Scores fit, urgency, and authority when a new opportunity appears.
  • Deal review prep brief: Builds the one-page narrative a rep needs for an internal deal review.

Recommended setup

  • Use stage-transition filters for automations that should only run when deals enter or leave a specific stage.
  • Keep instructions explicit about the output: qualification score, risk review, leadership ask, or next action.
  • Test with a real deal and update payload before activating the automation for all reps.
