Field columns

Create typed columns for values that people enter and maintain directly in a list.

Use a Field column when a person should enter or edit the value directly. Field columns are useful for imported data, review notes, workflow flags, classifications, owners, and any value that does not need to be retrieved or generated when the column runs.

#Add a Field column

  1. Add a column and select Field.
  2. Give the column a clear name.
  3. Choose the value type that matches the data you want to store.
  4. Complete any type-specific settings, then create the column.
  5. Select a cell to enter or edit its value.

#Choose a value type

  • Short text and long text: Names, notes, research, and free-form content.
  • Number and currency: Scores, counts, percentages, budgets, and values you want to sort or filter numerically.
  • Date and timezone: Deadlines, review dates, and local scheduling context.
  • Checkbox: Yes/no states such as Qualified or Needs review.
  • Email and URL: Contact details and clickable links.
  • Select and multi-select: Controlled categories such as Tier, Region, or Buying signal. Configure the available options while creating the column.
  • JSON: Structured objects or arrays that another column will use.
  • User: Assign a row to a Bigmind user. You can optionally limit the choices to selected teams.

#When to use another source

A Field column does not retrieve or generate a new value when you run the list. Choose another source when Bigmind should do that work for each row:

  • Use a Formula column to derive a value from other columns.
  • Use a CRM data column to retrieve imported CRM records and associations.
  • Use an AI column for generated research, classification, or messaging.
  • Use an Enrichment column to run a connected integration or custom tool.
